What data we are required to retain
Certain data must be retained for limited periods to comply with Nigerian tax, financial, and regulatory obligations, or to resolve disputes:
- Order and transaction records (invoices, payments, escrow releases, refunds): retained for 7 years as required by Nigerian tax law. These records are anonymised where possible and held securely.
- Fraud-prevention and abuse signals: retained for up to 5 years to protect Jummall and other users from repeat offenders.
- Records of legal claims or disputes: retained for the duration of the claim plus the statutory limitation period.
- Vendor records (if you sold on Jummall): tax and regulatory records retained for 7 years; payouts and 1099-style reporting retained as required by law.
What happens to pending orders
For your protection (and the protection of other users), your account cannot be deleted while you have:
- Active orders not yet delivered or confirmed
- Pending escrow releases
- Open disputes or refund requests
- Outstanding seller payouts (if you are a vendor)
Once these items are resolved, we will proceed with your deletion request. If you want us to cancel pending orders as part of your deletion, mention this in your request and we will work with the affected vendors.
Reactivation
Once your account is deleted, it cannot be reactivated. If you want to use Jummall again in the future, you will need to register a new account.
