This Privacy Policy describes how Jummall ("Jummall", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use our website at jummall.comand our mobile applications for Android and iOS (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the terms described here.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, password, and profile photo.
- Identity & address information: delivery address, billing address, and identity-verification data for sellers (e.g. bank verification number, government-issued ID, business registration documents).
- Order and transaction data: products you view, items in your cart, orders you place, escrow release codes, refunds, and disputes.
- Payment information: processed by our payment partner (Paystack). Jummall does not store your full card details.
- Communications: messages you send to vendors, customer support, or other users via in-app chat, email, or our support hotline.
- User-generated content: product reviews, ratings, photos, and seller listings you publish.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device data: device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, mobile network information, and crash logs.
- Usage data: pages and screens you view, search terms, items clicked, time spent, and referral source.
- Location data: approximate location derived from IP address; precise location only with your explicit permission, used to estimate delivery times and show nearby vendors.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for authentication, preferences, fraud prevention, and analytics. You can control cookies via your browser settings.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account, authenticate you, and prevent fraud.
- To process orders, payments, deliveries, and escrow releases.
- To enable communication between buyers, sellers, and our support team.
- To personalise product recommendations and search results.
- To send transactional notifications (order updates, escrow status) and, with your consent, marketing communications.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
3. How we share your information
We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information.
- With vendors and buyers: we share order details (name, delivery address, phone number) with the vendor fulfilling your order, and with the buyer placing an order from a vendor.
- With service providers: payment processing (Paystack), cloud hosting, SMS and email delivery, analytics, and customer-support tools. These providers may only use your data to perform services for Jummall.
- With logistics partners: to deliver your order, we share recipient name, delivery address, phone number, and order contents.
- For legal reasons: we may disclose information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Jummall, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer: if Jummall is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred subject to this Policy.
4. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. After account closure or deletion, we retain certain information for limited periods to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Specifically:
- Order and transaction records: retained for 7 years after the transaction, as required by Nigerian tax and financial regulations.
- Fraud-prevention signals: retained up to 5 years.
- Marketing data: deleted within 30 days of unsubscribe.
- Other personal data: deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except where retention is legally required.
5. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data (see our Account Deletion page).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
- Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

6. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption, hashed passwords, access controls, and regular security audits. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your data.
8. International transfers
Your information is stored on servers located in Nigeria and in regions where our cloud providers operate. Where data is transferred internationally, we apply appropriate safeguards consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and other applicable laws.
9. Third-party links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Review their privacy policies before providing them with information.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service prior to the change taking effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
